POLAND Funeral services will be on Friday July 2, 2010, 9:45 a.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home, Inc. and at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Roman Catholic Church for John Dvornekovich, 86, who passed away Tuesday June 29, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center.
John was born Jan. 3, 1924, in New Geneva, Pa., son of the late Joseph Dvornekovich and Martha Dvornekovich Miokovich.
John was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Croatian Roman Catholic Church. He was a 1942 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre in the Seabees.
He worked for Republic Steel Corp. for 40 years as a Machinist Instructor for Machinist Apprentice trainees, he also worked as a Turn Foreman in the maintenance department and was a General Foreman in the mechanical department both at the Electric Weld Tube Mill.
He was a member of the VFW Post 93, an avid golfer. he was in the Visa Golf League and Republic Steel Golf League, a Duck and Ten Pin Bowler and was in the Republic Ten Pin League.
He is survived by his three daughters, Karen Jean (Lenny) Toland of Austintown, Marianne (Bill) Dubiel of Poland and Valerie (Byron) Maderitz of Liberty Township; and five grandchildren, Robbie Mulhall, Jason Toland, Ray Mulhall, Brian Dubiel and Alex Dubiel.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy MacDonald Dvornekovich, whom he married in 1948, she died Feb. 9, 2008; and a brother, Nickolas Miokovich in 1995.
There will be calling hours on Friday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the Kirila Funeral Home, Inc., 258 Poland Ave. in Struthers.
